Overview

AM Mechanical is a nationally based design/build mechanical contractor, specifically focused on the installation of commercial process piping systems. We service customers across several different industries, including the commercial laundry, manufacturing, plastics, clean room, food & beverage, cosmetics/ pharmaceutical, and indoor vertical agriculture spaces.

As a commercial pipefitter, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating with our on-site team as required to install turnkey mechanical piping systems on active construction sites and operating process facilities. Responsibilities

  • Read and scale dimensions from blueprints to lay out overhead piping distribution in commercial facilities. This involves pulling dimensions off key building features (walls, columns, etc.…) and maintaining proper elevations to avoid conflicts with other building systems.
  • Install/fabricate all hangers, wall supports, and floor supports as needed to adequately support all piping systems.
  • Install a variety of piping system specifications, which may include but are not limited to:
  • Utilize some of the following joining methods for the installation of various piping systems (specific on-site requirements will be project dependent):
  • Cut, thread, and fit pipe to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders and benders. It is expected that all fitters have detailed knowledge of standard industry practices to cut and measure all pieces for a given application.
  • Layout, install, and assemble facility equipment per detailed drawings and specifications.
  • Perform piping system validation using pressure testing techniques, including pneumatic and hydrostatic testing procedures as necessary.
  • Work with jobsite foreman and other journeyman pipefitters & welders to accomplish daily tasks.
  • Establishes and adjusts work sequences to meet construction schedules utilizing knowledge of equipment capacities and assigned personnel.
  • Engages in problem solving with team members and other personnel on a construction site to ensure installation is coordinated and in line with customer quality expectations.
  • Operates and supervises operation of equipment and machinery such as forklifts, man lifts, and power tools.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, trade school
  • At least 3 years of experience installing process / plumbing piping systems.
  • Have a working knowledge of the materials and the installation of each found in the mechanical construction industry.
  • Ability to travel to construction projects across the country on rotating schedule.
  • Able to work Monday-Saturday (10-hour days) with occasional evenings and Sundays as needed. Must be able to be flexible with work schedule.
  • Possess valid driver's license.

All successful candidates must have a valid driver's license and complete a criminal background check.
